MIST Tournament Weekend: TBA

IMPORTANT COMPETITION INFORMATION:

• Debate preliminary rounds will be held in an online format prior to the MIST tournament weekend. Dates TBA.

• Chess, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, and Fortnite will be held in an online format prior to the MIST tournament weekend. Dates TBA.

• Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball will happen IN-PERSON prior to the MIST tournament weekend. Dates: TBA

This year's Knowledge Test books (by level):

• Test 1: The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore (Note: This book has themes of violence)

• Test 2: Palaces for the People by Eric Klinenberg

• Test 3: Builder of a Nation by Haifaa Younis.

• Test 4: When Hearing Becomes Listening - Mikaeel Ahmed Smith

This year’s MIST Bowl Topics:

• MIST Bowl - Topic 1: Contemporary Politics - The Divided Spectrum

• MIST Bowl - Topic 2: Confronting Inequality in Health Access

• MIST Bowl - Topic 3: Al-Aqsa: Past, Present, and Promise

• MIST Bowl - Topic 4: Marginalized Muslims in Conflict Zones

• MIST Bowl - Topic 5: The Environmental and Social Costs of Fast Fashion

• MIST Bowl - Topic 6: Current Events

This year’s Debate Topics:

• Schools should replace foreign language requirements with computer programming requirements.

• Streaming services should be required to release episodes weekly rather than all at once, in order to prevent binge watching.

• Provided it is technologically feasible, all new buildings should be required to have rooftop solar panels.

• Citizens should be allowed to allocate a limited portion of their tax payments to government programs of their choice.

• Social movements should prioritize pressuring key decision makers over altering public opinion.
